Through the extended classical harmony with stylistic devices of early Romanticism, Walter remains mostly rooted in Viennese Classicism. Pure joie de vivre prevails in the opening Allegro moderato, followed by a scherzo with two trios,

followed by a beautiful emotional Andante, in which each instrument is allowed to celebrate its performance. The effective finale captivates with Rossinian echoes, also with chamber music comedy.
